Hubballi, 19 Sept

State BJP President BY Vijayendra on Saturday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Hubballi and discussed the party's organisational activities in the State, including the 'Ballari Chalo' campaign.

During the meeting, Vijayendra presented Shah with details of the 'Ballari Chalo' padayatra and the Union Home Minister appreciated the programme and other organisational activities undertaken by the BJP unit in the State.

The meeting took place amid the BJP's 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan', (Service Resolve Campaign) being organised to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public service and leadership, Vijayendra said.

The Ballari padayatra was initially planned to demand that B Nagendra resign as a minister over allegations that he embezzled crores of rupees from the Valmiki Development Board. But the Ballari MLA resigned just days before the march from Raichur to Ballari began. The BJP then said the march was against corruption and “anti-people policies”.

Vijayendra said Shah was apprised of the support extended by BJP workers and the public during the padayatra and that he sought guidance on intensifying the party's campaign against the State government and highlighting its alleged failures before the people.

Vijayendra said the party would continue its organisational efforts and public awareness programmes with the aim of bringing the BJP back to power in Karnataka in the 2028 Assembly elections.

Shah was scheduled to attend an event here on Saturday but could not do so due to health issues.
